Camera di San Paolo in Parma: our contribution

April 7, 2025

The Camera di San Paolo in Parma has recently reopened, an integral part of the San Paolo Complex, which features significant frescoes by Correggio and Alessandro Araldi dating back to the 16th century. This restoration enhances the complex as a major cultural attraction in the heart of the city’s historic center.

The Superintendence of Archaeology, Fine Arts, and Landscape for the provinces of Parma and Piacenza enthusiastically approved the project presented by Architect Nicola Simboli in collaboration with Studio Tecnico Rainieri. The project involved the upgrading of electrical, mechanical, and fire protection systems, as well as enhancing the lighting throughout the museum route.

This initiative is part of a broader restoration plan for the entire complex, focused on preserving a monument of great artistic and historical prestige. The intervention included a special lighting system from below, designed to highlight the mythological figures in the frescoes, making them appear almost like bas-reliefs. The entire lighting system has been completely renovated with the installation of illuminating totems in all rooms, complemented by an innovative fire protection system that combines traditional smoke detection with advanced camera monitoring technology.

Additional improvements include intrusion prevention systems, climate control, and humidity regulation, which are essential for preserving the frescoes. The electrical systems have been carefully integrated into the museum’s design to ensure artistic harmony with the space.

Beyond the honor of participating in such a prestigious project, Studio Tecnico Rainieri takes great pride in overcoming the technical challenges of installing modern systems in a protected and historically significant site. Most importantly, this effort has further enhanced the extraordinary beauty of these timeless masterpieces.

We invite you to visit Parma and explore the Camera di San Paolo, where you will also find a piece of our work, inspired by Collaboration, History, Innovation, Dedication, Safety, Reliability, and Expertise.
