Description
This designer hotel chain opened its first Italian hotel in the heart of Florence with our signature fire prevention concept. This new structure, located in the historic district of Santa Maria Novella, has revitalised a part of the city often neglected by tourists and even local residents. The project involved converting the premises of the imposing ‘Monte de’ Pegni’ complex, originally covering 4,500 square metres, into a site defined by its contemporary and dynamic creative energy. The original nucleus was expanded with the addition of a new residential wing, bringing the total number of rooms to 171,
split between the categories of Medium (40 rooms), Medium Plus (83 rooms), Large Plus (18 rooms), Extra Large (23 rooms), Gigantic (6 rooms), and a loft-apartment with a private garden and swimming pool called the ‘Casetta del Giardino’ or ‘Garden House’. Unlike traditional 4- or 5-star hotels (the 25hours San Paolino has 4 stars), this Florentine micro-city was conceived to celebrate Florence and its community. The architectural design by GLA – Genius Loci Architettura, and the interiors crafted by
Paola Navone – Studio Otto, pay homage to Dante Alighieri and the Divine Comedy. The choice of a local chef, Nicola Schioppo, and the friendly atmosphere in every room of the hotel, testify to the commitment to create a place to be enjoyed 25 hours a day. The 25hours Piazza San Paolino physically and metaphorically opens onto the city and the outside world, engaging and redesigning the adjacent square with the intention of re-establishing the historical relationship between the urban fabric and the main Florentine churches.
These aspects reflect the commitment to create a complex that is not only aesthetically appealing, but also safe, reliable and fully compliant with current regulations.
Our careful consideration of the technical quality of the design is reflected in this welcoming setting which ensures guests enjoy high standards of comfort and safety. The result is a memorable experience, right in the heart of Florence.
